SHILLONG: In yet another case of rape within the family, a 14-year-old girl of Umphyrnai near Smit has been reported to have become pregnant after she was raped by her stepfather, Kanestar Lyngdoh Sun four months ago.
According to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem, the matter came to light when the victim went for a medical check-up at Smit PHC and it was found that she is four months pregnant.
The accused has been arrested and a case has been registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
