SHILLONG, Oct 18: After strong opposition to the culmination of the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival on a Sunday, Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh took a defensive stance while stating that every day is holy and precious.
It may be mentioned that a group called Saindur Tipkur Tipkha Ehrngiew Hynniewtrep had registered strong opposition to the decision to conclude the upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival on a Sunday. “It is not that people become holy and faithful for a particular week or a day, and become unholy for the rest of the week,” Lyngdoh said, when queried about the opposition.
The Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival is scheduled to be held from November 17 to 19.
