NEW DELHI, Oct 19: Bhabesh Chandra Phukan, former Joint Secretary to the Governor of Meghalaya, breathed his last at his home in Sarmataira in Assam.
Phukan, 85, is survived by his wife and a daughter.
He had bequeathed his body to Guwahati Medical College for research purposes, where it was received with utmost respect in a ceremony by Dr Joydev Sharma, vice principal in the college.
Hailing from the village of Kathiatoli in Golaghat district, Phukan received education in Golaghat and Shillong. He died last month.
