Dengue rages on in UP
Lucknow, Oct 21: Hospitals in major cities in Uttar Pradesh are brimming with fever patients, mostly vector-borne diseases like dengue. Lucknow has accounted for 1,845 cases so far, the highest in the state, while Kanpur has 1,068 and Moradabad 1,050 cases. The urban development department has also stepped up efforts to control the spread of vector-borne diseases. While the health department is responsible for ensuring treatment of the infected persons, urban development department takes preventive measures to check the outbreak of such diseases. (IANS)

 

‘No compromise on OTT rules’
New Delhi, Oct 21: There is no compromise on OTT Rules 2023 requiring online streaming platforms to incorporate anti-tobacco warnings in their content, the Union Health Ministry asserted on Saturday and warned of action in case of non-compliance. The ministry termed as “false, misleading and based on misrepresented facts” a media report that recently claimed that the Union Government has reached “an uneasy compromise” with OTT (over-the-top) streaming services on adding smoking warnings to their content. “The report further claims that some platforms have chosen less intrusive warnings as a result of such an agreement. Bihar Police forms ‘Anti Romeo Squad’
Patna, Oct 21: To stop eve-teasing and molestation incidents during Durga Puja in crowded places, especially near Puja Pandals, Bihar Police has constituted ‘Anti Romeo Squad’ in several districts. The Anti Romeo Squad teams are being deployed at the crowded places in and round the surroundings of Puja Pandals and fairs in civil and police uniforms to keep at tab on miscreants. “In Gopalganj, we have constituted three teams of Anti Romeo Squads in the district. They have been given directions to keep tabs on miscreants and take action promptly as soon as anyone raises the alarm of eve-teasing or molestation,” said Swarn Prabhat, SP of Gopalganj. 106 sitting MLAs in Telangana crorepatis

New Delhi, Oct 21: Out of the 118 sitting MLAs analysed in Telangana, 106 are crorepatis with 93 from the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), a report claimed on Saturday. The report also said that out of the 118 MLAs only six are women. The report was published by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Telangana Election Watch that analysed the criminal, financial and other background details of 118 out of 119 sitting MLAs. In the current assembly, one Constituency Secunderabad Cantt. is vacant. The analysis is based on the affidavits submitted by the candidates prior to the 2018 Assembly elections and bye-elections conducted thereafter. The report stated that out of 118 sitting MLAs analysed , 106 (90 per cent) are crorepatis. The report further said that the average assets per sitting MLA is Rs 13.57 crore. (PTI)
