SHILLONG: Malki SC earned their second victory in the ongoing Shillong Premier League with a 4-0 triumph over Mawlai SC at the JN Sports Complex, Polo, on Tuesday.

It was all one-way traffic as Mawlai, who have lost all five of their matches thus far, conceded three second half goals.

Malki’s Samson Nongrum opened the scoring in the ninth minute, but his team failed to score again until deep into the second half.

Dibenroy Nongspung scored a brace within 10 minutes (71st and 81st) after the break and Ronnie Nongbri added another in stoppage time.

Dibenroy’s double puts him among the leading goal-scorers of the tournament with four.

Despite the win, Malki remain in fifth place with eight points, one behind Langsning, who will face SPL leaders Rangdajied United on Wednesday at 3:30pm.

A win for Langsning – probably a tall order given the fact that RUFC have yet to lose a match so far – would propel them to second in the standings, although Royal Wahingdoh and Nangkiew Irat, who are currently second and third, will have a game in hand.

Besides Rangdajied, Langsning are the only other undefeated team, having drawn three and won two of their five games.
