Shillong, Nov 10: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Meghalaya unit, a right-wing students’ organisation extended its condolences over the demise of veteran BJP leader Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya who passed away in Mumbai on Friday.
PB Acharya had served as governor in five Northeastern states – Manipur, Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura.
The ABVP described him as a great visionary who was always ahead of times when it came to ideas – a true people’s governor.
‘He was possibly the most known individual, a person who was the man to go not only for northeastern youth coming for advices for their education. But he was also the mentor to many others. He was the chief architect who conceptualised the Students’ Experience in Inter-state Living (SEIL), a unique project aimed at facilitating national integration and was also instrumental in starting the project’.
‘Acharya ji was an inspiration for many youngsters to join nationalistic thought process. He coined many terms like ‘My Home India’, ‘Namaste’, the ABVP said in the statement here.
