Nongkrem defeat Jongksha 3-2

Shillong, Nov 16: Nongkrem SC staged a remarkable comeback, overcoming two deficits to secure a 3-2 victory against Jongksha SC in a thrilling Group A encounter of the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2023 at First Ground, Polo, on Thursday.
In a neck-and-neck battle, Jorboklang Khongsngi provided Jongksha with the initial lead in the 45th minute, only to be equalized by Iumeda Mawroh in the 60th minute.
Jongksha regained the advantage with Babiang Umsong’s goal in the 69th minute. However, Nongkrem turned the tide with a late comeback, courtesy of Shankupar Kharbyngar’s double strikes in the 85th and 90+3rd minutes, securing three crucial points for his team.
In another Group A fixture, Sohryngkham SC and Laitlyngkot SC battled to a 1-1 draw. Shanker Kshiar had a mixed performance, scoring an own goal for Sohryngkham in the 17th minute but redeeming himself by netting a goal against Laitlyngkot in the 71st minute.Looking ahead, today’s fixtures in the SSA Second Division include Pohkseh SC versus Umphrup SC in Group B at 11:30 AM and Laitkyrhong SC facing off against Lumshyiap SC in Group B at 2:30 PM. Football enthusiasts can anticipate more exciting clashes in the ongoing tournament.
As the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2023 continues to unfold, fans are treated to a spectacle of resilience and determination on the field.
