SHILLONG: The NCP has dismissed the claims of former Rajya Sabha member and ex-party president, Robert Kharshiing, that he would contest the Lok Sabha elections from the NCP.

State NCP spokesperson, Constantine Thma, while dismissing Kharshiing’s claims, said that his statement to the media was his personal comments and the party did not endorse his views.

Thma observed that since Kharshiing had himself claimed to have applied to join the Congress, he automatically ceased to be a member of the NCP.

“This means that he is no longer an NCP member and hence there is no question of giving the ticket to a person who has applied for Congress membership,” Thma added.
