Guwahati, Nov 20: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday underlined the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in streamlining lesson planning for teachers in the state.

“Artificial Intelligence (AI) can address some of the biggest challenges in education, innovate teaching and learning practices. In Assam’s Barpeta, our district authorities have developed AI apps to simplify lesson planning for teachers,” Sarma posted on his official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle.

Notably, in a major boost towards simplifying education through innovation, three Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based educational apps have been developed by the district education department, Barpeta recently.

The AI-based apps – Lesson Plan Creator AI, AI Teacher App and AI Proofreading Assistant – were launched on November 3, 2023.

Till date, about 200 schools have been covered.

Officials say that the AI-based apps have the potential to revolutionise the educational landscape in the state. Reportedly, the apps have been designed to harness the power of AI and technology to enhance the teaching and learning experience for students and teachers.

The Lesson Plan Creator AI app, for instance, addresses the cumbersome and complex task of lesson planning for teachers. Leveraging the capabilities of AI, the application can immediately generate high quality, activity-based and engaging lesson plans.

On the other hand, the AI Teacher app focuses on presenting challenging topics in a language that is comprehensive and relevant to students.
