SHILLONG, Nov 20: Owing to the three-day Cherry Blossom Festival, that the Chief Minister termed as one of the biggest festivals of the country, the hoteliers beamed with joy as the city guest houses and hotels stood at almost 100 per cent occupancy, and the adjoining areas with 85 per cent as tourists flocked to the city to bask in the music and the natural beauty of the state.
Parambir Singh Sehdeve, president of the Federation of Shillong Hotels, shared with The Shillong Times that hoteliers were elated and expressed gratitude to the Meghalaya government for organising such events that are helping the hoteliers after a long dry spell following the prolonged pandemic-induced dry spell and the unfortunate incident at Mukroh last year, which led to the cancellation of the Cherry Blossom Festival.
