SHILLONG: Govt UP School, Mowkaiaw, won four events at the Inter School Block Level Tournament (Laskein Block), which concluded at Pamsna Stadium, Laskein, on Thursday.
Four disciplines were conducted in the competition – handball, kho-kho, kabaddi and volleyball – for boys and girls.
The Mowkaiaw school won the boys and girls kho-kho events along with both volleyball titles.
Govt UP School also finished runners-up in girls kabaddi.
Kymprup Sec School won the girls kabaddi title along with girls handball.
There were three other events where Kymprup finished second – boys kho-kho, boys kabaddi and girls volleyball.
The boys handball event was won by Sawlyngdoh Sec School.
Last but not least, Laskein UP School came first in boys kabaddi.
Although Laskein won just one event, they did finish runners-up in another four – boys and girls handball, girls kho-kho and boys volleyball.
The tournament ended with a prize distribution ceremony in the presence of H Shangpliang, District Sports Officer, R Shangpliang, General Secretary of Laskein Sports Association, and others.
