Rs 1,241 cr for Phulbari-Tura road expansion

SHILLONG, Dec 12: The Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has sanctioned Rs 1241 crore for the enhancement and expansion of the Phulbari-Tura segment of National Highway 127B.
Minister of Road, Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari said in a post on X that the enhancement and expansion of the Phulbari-Tura segment on NH-127B would transform it into a two-lane thoroughfare with paved shoulders.
This road infrastructure aims to enhance connectivity between Assam and Meghalaya, catering to traffic originating from West Bengal and the Bhutan border, Gadkari said while adding that the project would also facilitate smoother access to Tura and other parts of Meghalaya via NH-217 (Tura-Dalu side) and Tura-Jengjal-Rongjeng-Nongstoin-Shillong.
The project is a part of the North East Road Network Connectivity Improvement, facilitated by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Encompassing a total distance of 63.224 km, the project is divided into two packages.
