TURA, Dec 13: Rajabala MLA, Mizanur Rahman Kazi on Wednesday sought the constitution of a high level committee to enquire into the alleged irregularities committed by an Agriculture official in connection with the distribution of SDRF funds in 2016, a report of which was recently published in a local newspaper.
A complaint in this regard was dispatched by Kazi to Meghalaya Chief Secretary, D P Wahlang seeking prompt action with regard to the matter.
The demand by Kazi seeking an inquiry comes following a report published in a local vernacular — Salantini Janera — on December 12, where it was alleged that Agriculture Inspector under Selsella Block, Mominul Islam had been involved in various irregularities with regard to the distribution of the funds.
The newspaper report further alleged that the distribution was done in an unfair manner depriving the genuine farmers and benefitting his own relatives with vested interest.
“In the interests of the public, it is therefore requested that a high level committee be constituted to enquire into the matter in a free and fair manner to ascertain the actual facts and take necessary departmental action if found guilty, so that such acts are not committed in the future,” Kazi’s complaint to the Chief Secretary requested.
The Rajabala MLA also requested that the action taken report be updated for his information.
