SHILLONG/JOWAI, Dec 29: The Shillong Traffic Police is going to conduct aggressive checking against drunk and rash driving on New Year’s Eve.
The Superintendent of Police (Traffic), K Prasad said the police personnel are already conducting checking and the drive will be further intensified on December 31 and January 1. During Christmas celebrations, police also compounded many for drunk driving in the city. It may be mentioned that no official programmes are on cards this New Year’s Eve. But in Jowai, West Jaintia Hills, the Synjuk Waheh Chong Jowai in collaboration with the office of District Tourism Officer, West Jaintia Hills, will organise a New Year’s programme on January 1 to bid farewell to the year 2023 and welcome 2024.
All Dorbar Chnong participating in the annual New Year musical parade will be received at Nangbah Stand, Iawmusiang, and mementoes will be handed over to them.
