NHAI worker killed by truck in Ri-Bhoi

NONGPOH, Jan 13: In a harrowing incident reported from Quinine village on National Highway 6 in Ri-Bhoi on Saturday evening, a worker of the National Highway Authority of India lost his life when struck by a dumper truck in reverse gear.
The deceased, identified as Bilyfullstar Marbaniang (35), a resident of Umran Dairy, Ri-Bhoi, met a tragic end during the unfortunate event.
Sources reveal that the incident transpired around 3 pm.
The worker, assigned to facilitate the free flow of traffic during ongoing repair work, was fatally run over by a dumper truck (MP65 H0287). This resulted in the immediate demise of the worker.  The driver of the dumper truck reportedly fled the scene following the incident.
The body of the deceased was expeditiously transported to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for autopsy. Ri-Bhoi Police has initiated a comprehensive investigation to establish facts surrounding the incident and are actively working towards apprehending the driver who absconded from the scene.
