76 locals to undergo clay pottery training

JOWAI, Jan 15: A 15-day training seminar on clay pottery as part of the skill development programme of the District Commerce and Industries Centre, West Jaintia Hills, kick-started on Monday at Larnai village in West Jaintia Hills.
Altogether 76 pot makers will participate in the programme, which will go on till January 28 with emphasis on a scheme on studies for promotion and strengthening of black pottery in Tyrchang and Larnai villages.
Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills, BS Sohliya was the chief guest of the programme, who set forth the formal opening of the skilled training programme in the presence of the Joint Director of Commerce and Industries department, ML Wanshong, who was the co-chief guest.
The programme was supported by the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialization (MGIRI), Wardha, under the Ministry of MSME, and the monetary sanction was borne by the Commerce and Industries department.
