Mining ban
The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills, has promulgated Section 144 CrPC prohibiting mining activity or removal of sand from river beds by any person or company without obtaining environmental clearance from MoEF. This order has been enforced in compliance with the order of the National Green Tribunal.
Wine fest
The 11th Shillong Wine Festival will be held on November 9 at the Crinoline Swimming Pool, Shillong. Wine makers from the State and the North East have been invited to participate in the event. Local band Symphonic Illusion will be performing on the day.
Function
The valedictory function of the wild life week celebration, 2013 will be held at Anton Hall, Laitumkhrah on October 30 at 11 am. Forest and Environment Minister Prestone Tynsong will attend as the chief guest.
