SHILLONG: The KSU Langkynma Area Unit has resolved to ban entry of coal laden trucks from Rajaju till Nongjri in South West Khasi Hills from November 1 until the State Government starts repairing the Borsora-Nongjri road.

Expressing concern over the pathetic road condition all along the Borsora – Nongjri route, KSU Langkynma unit president, Pius Marwein, blamed the government for neglecting this part of the State.

“Despite having apprised of this problem faced by the people in these areas on many occasions, the state government still chooses to pay deaf ear to these grievances,” Marwein said in a statement on Monday.

Narrating the sad state of affairs in this part of the region, Marwein said that the roads, especially the one from Rajaju till Nongjri, are in a pathetic condition causing severe inconvenience to the rural populace in transporting goods and food supplies to and from their respective villages.

“The lackadaisical attitude of the State Government has also put the lives of many people in great danger as ambulances cannot reach the destination in time due to the bad condition of the roads,” the Marwein pointed out.

The KSU has urged the local people, coalmine owners and the vehicle owners to consider the welfare of the people at large and to cooperate with the decision of the union to ban entry of coal laden trucks from Rajaju till Nongjri from November 1.
