IGNOU confers close to 1,000 degrees on 37th Convocation

SHILLONG, Feb 21: The 37th Convocation of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) took place on the New Delhi University campus on Tuesday with Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar as the chief guest, who delivered the Convocation address.
Concurrently, similar convocation functions were held in 39 regional centres across India. At the IGNOU Regional Centre Shillong, Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma was the guest of honour.
A total of 963 students were eligible to get the certificates, amongst them 109 were from bachelor’s degrees, 506 were from Master’s degrees, 94 were from Postgraduate degrees, and the remaining from certificate programmes. A total of 128 students received degrees from the convocation.
Sangma, in his speech, congratulated the awardees.
He stressed the significance of implementing a consistent curriculum throughout the educational journey, from school to college and university.
