Int’l conference at NEHU delves into NEP 2020

SHILLONG, March 18: A two-day international conference on ‘NEP 2020: Teaching, Education, and New Learning Technology’, organised by the Department of Education at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, in collaboration with Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal, and the Council of Educational Administration and Management (CEAM), was inaugurated at the Golden Jubilee Auditorium, NEHU, here on Monday.
The inaugural session was graced by Vice-Chancellor of NEHU Prof PS Shukla, who presided over the ceremony and inspired the participants. Prof Brinda Bazeley Kharbirymbai, Head of the Department of Education at NEHU, and Convener of the conference, extended a warm welcome to all the guests.
The chief guest of the session, Prof Neelima Gupta, Vice-Chancellor of HS Gour Viswavidyalay, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, emphasised on the significance of such conferences in updating knowledge related to teaching and learning, particularly in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020).
Commissioner and Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, FR Kharkongor, was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Distinguished scholars including Prof Chitra Bahadur Budhathoki from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, and Prof Saroj Sharma, Chairperson of NIOS, delivered the keynote addresses during the inaugural session. They enlightened the participants about the challenges and opportunities presented by NEP 2020 for successful implementation.
Dr Babli Choudhury, co-convener of the conference, shared that over 30 experts from various institutions and universities across India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Austria deliberated over various aspects of NEP throughout the conference. The event witnessed the participation of more than 200 PG students, research scholars, and faculty members, who presented a total of 150 research papers both online and offline.
