TURA, March 18: The Garo Graduates’ Union (GGU) on Monday sought Chief Minister Conrad Sangma’s intervention into the alleged irregularities in the selection process for Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) and Junior Divisional Assistant (JDA) posts, the examination for which were conducted recently, while at the same time suggesting certain necessary actions to rectify them.
The results for both the examinations were declared on March 14.
In its complaint to the Chief Minister, the union alleged that there were gross irregularities in the selection process for both positions considering the State Reservation Policy of 40% for Khasi-Jaintia, 40% for Garos, 15% for unreserved and 5% for other STs/SCs.
According to the union, the already declared result indicated that there was discriminatory selection, lack of Garo representation, failure to adhere to the job reservation policy, unjust cut-off marks, high level of difficulty in the question paper, redundant examination structure and shortage of qualified candidates.
The union demanded a thorough investigation into the selection process while at the same time recommending the implementation of reforms to ensure transparency, fairness and adherence to the reservation policy by reviewing and correcting the biased results, maintaining strict adherence to the job reservation policy and roster system, abolishing discriminatory process of selection, preserving reserved posts, timely filling up of the vacant posts and simplifying examination structure besides others.
