LS polls: 11 in fray in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, March 27: Altogether 11 candidates are in the fray for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Shillong and Tura seats.
Zenith Sangma of the TMC was the only candidate to file his nomination from the Tura seat on Wednesday.
There are seven candidates in fray for the Shillong seat — Ampareen Lyngdoh (NPP), Vincent H Pala (INC), Robertjune Kharjahrin (RDA), Ricky AJ Syngkon (VPP), Lakhon Kma (Independent), Peter Shallam (Independent) and Manuel Badwar (INC).
Badwar is a back-up candidate of the Congress and will withdraw his candidature after scrutiny of the papers.
For the Tura seat, Saleng Sangma (INC), Agatha Sangma (NPP), Zenith Sangma (TMC) and Labenn Ch Marak (Independent) have filed their nominations.
The scrutiny of nominations will take place on March 28 while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 30.
