Academicians shed light on NEP, bat for awareness dissemination

Curtain comes down on natl conference in NEHU Tura

SHILLONG, March 28: Academicians and experts conglomerated for a two-day national conference at North-Eastern Hill University, Tura campus, to shed light on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and provide stratagems for its effective implementation.
According to a statement here, the national conference, thematised on ‘National Conference on NEP 2020: Strategies and Implementation towards Future Vision’, was organised by the Education Department of NEHU Tura and was sponsored by ICSSR- New Delhi, ICSSR-NERC.
Participated by research scholars, professors, teachers, trainee teachers, et al, the seminar, which culminated on Thursday, was organised by a committee, led by Dr. Saru Joshi, convenor of the conference, along with other faculty members.
During the conference, the academicians stressed the importance of disseminating awareness among the masses on NEP 2020, and said the same should be the prime goal of educational institutes.
They also suggested provision of platforms to solicit views and ideas towards the successful implementation of the NEP 2020.
The programme was also attended by Vice Chancellor of NEHU Shillong Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, who spoke about the involvement of communities, especially in remote areas, towards the uplift of society.
On the other hand, whilst Professor Sujata Gurudev, Campus Director of NEHU, Tura, highlighted the significance of NEP 2020 in transformation of education, Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University Dr. Ganga Prasad Parsain expressed hope that the national conference will provide a platform for the effective implementation of NEP 2020.
Later, an insightful panel discussion, chaired by the VC of Tripura University, was also held, during which Prof. Rakesh Rai from the Central University of Gujarat, Professor BP Sahu from NEHU, Shillong, and Dr. Manoj Rana from NEHU, Shillong, presented their ideas on the topics, viz. Teacher Education and NEP 2020, Inter-disciplinary in Higher Education Institutions, and Artificial Intelligence.
As part of the valedictory programme of the conference, all the paper presenters were felicitated for their valuable contributions.
“The awards served as recognition for their efforts in advancing the dialogue on NEP 2020 and exploring innovative solutions for its effective implementation,” the statement said.
“In conclusion, the two-day national conference on NEP 2020 proved to be a resounding success, fostering dialogue, sharing insights, and laying the groundwork for effective implementation strategies towards realising the vision outlined in the National Education Policy 2020,” it added.
