Students’ union of college in Jowai reminds govt of demands

JOWAI, March 28: The Kiang Nangbah Government College Students’ Union on Thursday met Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhlang Dhar to remind him about their charter of demands which they submitted to the state government earlier.
President of the union Evenmore Rymbai said that one of their demands was appointment of a lecturer for the Khasi department. Rymbai said that the students are facing great difficulties in the absence of a lecturer to teach Khasi. The union has also sought the upgrade of the college library and the boy’s hostel.
Moreover, the demands include deployment of security guards in the college hostels, besides purchase of ‘personalised graduation gowns’.
The Deputy CM has assured that to look into the matter soon after the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, he added.
