Shillong, April 12: The President of the Meghalaya Cricket Association, Nababrata Bhattacharjee, and Honorary Secretary of the MCA, Gideon Kharkongor, attended the final of the T20 league organised by the Eastern West Khasi Hills District Cricket Association on Thursday in Mairang.
The EWKHDCA is the newest district cricket association to be recognised by the MCA. It was inducted as an Associate member of the MCA during the last MCA annual general meeting in December.
Bhattacharjee and Kharkongor enjoyed a highly entertaining final that was decided off the last ball with Hurricane defeating Nongthliew.
The two dignitaries also interacted with young students of Pathway Academy who are being trained by Bhakupar Mylliemngap, one of the state’s National Cricket Academy qualified coaches, as well as the team managed by the district association.
“The EWKHDCA is sincerely pursuing promotion of the game and the MCA is committed to support all their positive initiatives,” Mr Bhattacharjee said.
“It was heartening to meet the visionary Babu Boldness Nongrum, a colleague of many years, who has kindly allowed use of the KSA (Khatsawphra Sports Association) Ground for cricket.
We are hopeful of many young cricketers emerging from the district,” the MCA President added.
