SHILLONG, April 12: In a bid to encourage love for reading and book-sharing among students, teachers, and the local community, a book exchange programme, ‘Pustakopahar Utsav’, was organised at KV Umroi Cantonment on Friday.
According to a statement here, the event witnessed a strong turnout, with active participation from students, teachers and community members of all ages at the school premises.
“The heart of the event was the book exchange itself. Participants brought along their pre-loved books and exchanged them with others, creating a vibrant atmosphere of sharing and learning. Fiction, non-fiction, textbooks, and children’s books were among the diverse range of literature exchanged during the programme,” the statement said.
Besides the book exchange, several engaging activities were arranged to enhance the attendees’ experience. These activities included storytelling sessions for children, book-related quizzes and competitions, and interactive reading corners for exploring new books and holding discussions.
Guest speakers and literary enthusiasts also contributed to the event by sharing their insights and experiences.
“The atmosphere at the ‘Pustakopahar Utsav’ was filled with excitement and positivity. Participants were seen eagerly browsing through books, engaging in animated discussions about their favorite reads, and forging new connections with fellow book lovers. The event fostered a sense of community and camaraderie, reminding everyone of the power of books to bring people together,” the statement said.
“The event not only promoted literacy but also instilled a sense of belonging and unity within the community. It served as a testament to the enduring importance of books in enriching our lives and connecting us with one another,” it added.
