Meet condoles demise of hate crime victims

SHILLONG, April 14: The Meghalaya Linguistic Minoritiy Development Forum on Sunday condoled the demise of the people who have fallen victim to hate crimes recently.
According to a statement here, a meeting in this regard was held in the city during which the gathering paid homage to the ones who lost their lives in the recent tragedies of Ichamati and Mawlai Mawroh.
“Families of the departed found solace in the embrace of the community as we adorned photographs of the beloved victims with flowers,” the statement said.
Led by the Forum president SK Choudhury, the gathering also recited the Gyatri Mantra, and observed a minute of silence.
“Mementos adorned with verses from the Bhagavad Gita, symbols of eternal wisdom and solace, were tenderly presented to the grieving families. The outpouring of support extended beyond mere words, as generous contributions from the gathered community provided interim aid to alleviate immediate burdens,” the statement said.
“In a display of solidarity, voices resonated with shared experiences and heartfelt prayers, echoing the collective yearning for restoration and harmony,” it added.
