Shillong, April 30: Environmental practices took the centre stage during the annual Borsho Boron Event, which was organised by the Shillong Bengalee Students’ Association, in the state capital on Sunday.
According to a statement here, the event was thematised on ‘Preserving and Promoting the Environment’ to stress the importance of environmental protection.
Deviating from the usual norm of presenting bouquets to the guests of the event, the organisers chose to gift saplings to them.
“This gesture underscored the organisation’s commitment to environmental conservation, reflecting growing concerns over recent unseasonably warm temperatures in Shillong and its surrounding areas,” the statement said. The event was attended by prominent figures, including teachers and professors from various schools and colleges, representatives from multiple organisations, and members of different student bodies, along with the youth wings of various political parties.
Some of the attendees of the event include Cabinet Minister AL Hek, state BJP spokesperson M Kharkarang, members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), et al.
