Drugs worth Rs 2.23 cr seized; duo nabbed

SHILLONG, May 2: Officials of Customs, NER, Shillong, have seized contraband items valued around Rs 2.23 crore at Kashipur area, Silchar-Jiribam Road.
According to a statement here, two people have been arrested in this connection and remanded in judicial custody.
“On receipt of specific information, officers of Hqrs Preventive, Customs, NER, Shillong, rushed to Silchar-Jiribam road on April 29 and kept surveillance for a few hours for suspects carrying a drug consignment. The officers were able to successfully apprehend two persons from the Kashipur area at Silchar-Jiribam road and seized 2.270 kgs of methamphetamine (WY) tablets from their possession, valued at Rs 2.23 crores,” the statement said.
