More UNESCO clubs should be set up: CM

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Wednesday stated that the North East region has its own inherent problems and many of the UNESCO programmes need to be implemented in the region in association with the State Governments

He stated that UNESCO programmes need to be reached to youths and he even opined that more UNESCO clubs should be organized in the State and the region to involve the young generation.

The Chief Minister was addressing the International Seminar on Cultural Heritage and Peace Education at the newly-constructed State Convention Centre here.

The three days International Seminar on Cultural Heritage and Peace Education is being organized by the Confederation of UNESCO Clubs and Association of India in collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya where around 46 foreign delegates and delegates from 16 states of India participated.
