Convention on futuristic agri in Umiam concludes

SHILLONG, May 18: The 1st Zonal Convention North-East Bharat on ‘Futuristic Agriculture for Atmanirbhar Bharat in the Eastern Himalayan Region’ concluded on Saturday at the College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences, Umiam.
The valedictory session featured Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Alexander Laloo Hek as the chief guest. In his address, Hek highlighted the significance of important crops and their export potential, underscoring the necessity for demand-driven research in the agricultural sector.
The two-day convention included four technical sessions, during which 103 research papers on various aspects of futuristic agriculture were presented by esteemed professors, directors, joint directors, deans, and students from across India. Awards were presented to the winners of the oral and poster presentations, recognising the contributions of young researchers.
Guest of honour, Kamalnayan, Zonal Organizing Secretary of ABVP, spoke about the role of AGRIVISION events in fostering leadership among students. He encouraged students to pursue research that would benefit farmers in the North Eastern Region of India.
In a key announcement, Shubham Singh Patel, National Convener of AGRIVISION, introduced the Agrivision team members for North Eastern India, setting the stage for continued innovation and collaboration in the region’s agricultural sector.
