SHILLONG, May 23: The state government on Thursday sought a detailed report from East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, SC Sadhu following the dismantling of around 80 illegal dwelling houses at Lum Survey by HYC members.
“I will not be able to comment. What I can do is seek a report from the DC on behalf of the state government. I am sure that the Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Home would be in a better position to explain the matter in details because he will be privy to information which I lack,” Cabinet Minister and Government spokesperson, Paul Lyngdoh said after the incident.
Asked for his comment on the incident, Lyngdoh said, “The eviction happened after the organisation went there along with officials of the district administration. I think somewhere there was a breakdown of communication.”
He reminded that earlier HYC members had gone to the site along with the magistrates deputed by the DC.
Home Minister Prestone Tynsong could not be reached for his comments on the demolition at Lum Survey.
