SHILLONG, June 1: As many as 100 budding entrepreneurs from the North East conglomerated for an event organised by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong and funded by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).
According to a statement here, the event, ‘Bootcamp for Aspiring Young Entrepreneurs of NER’, provided a platform for the budding entrepreneurs from the region “to explore, innovate, and shape the future of the region’s startup ecosystem”.
The inaugural programme of the five-day event was attended by IIM Shillong Director Prof. DP Goyal, Assistant General Manager of SIDBI S Paunminthang Gante, faculty members as well as dignitaries from various sectors.
In his address during the inaugural programme, Prof. Goyal congratulated the participants and emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship. “Make the most of this platform and explore the rich possibilities of entrepreneurship in the region. Entrepreneurship requires a mindset and dedication to contribute to the growth of the country,” he said in his message to the budding entrepreneurs.
The five-day entrepreneurial bootcamp culminated with a valedictory programme here, which was attended by SIDBI General Manager Bhanu Prakash Verma.
In his address, Verma highlighted the significance of the bootcamp’s mission to foster entrepreneurial spirit in the North East.
It may be mentioned that the participants, during the five-day period, were immersed in a series of dynamic sessions, workshops, and interactive activities aimed at equipping them with essential entrepreneurial tools and knowledge.
“The bootcamp’s success underlined the region’s rich cultural heritage, abundant resources, and untapped potential. Participants demonstrated how these strengths could be leveraged to create impactful businesses through sustainable practices, cultural heritage preservation, and technological advancements,” the statement said.
