MAWKYRWAT, June 8: South West Khasi Hills district administration has assured Mawkyrwat MLA, Renikton L Tongkhar, of working together with the Joint Action Committee on Social Organisation, a conglomeration of different pressure groups and village authorities in Mawkyrwat area, in the fight against drug menace in Mawkyrwat area in particular and South West Khasi Hills District in general.
This was informed by Tongkhar following a meeting with South West Khasi Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner LT Tariang, Superintendent of Police GD Kharwanlang, Myntri Shnongs of Mawkyrwat and leaders of different pressure groups, on Friday.
During the meeting, all the stakeholders held discussions on the ways and means to fight drug menace in the district.
Tongkhar also submitted the resolution of a meeting on the drug issue, which was held on June 1 in Mawkyrwat.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Tongkhar informed that the district administration has assured him and the delegation of working in tandem with the Joint Action Committee on Social Organisation in the fight against drugs in the district. “With the cooperation and coordination of all stakeholders, we hope that we will be able to control and eradicate drugs in Mawkyrwat,” Tongkhar said.
