RBI organises financial literacy camp at Songsak

WILLIAMNAGAR, June 22: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Shillong, in collaboration with Bakdil NGO and NABARD, organised a one-day ‘Field Level Financial Literacy Camp’ at Spark Hills, Songsak, on Friday, which was participated in large numbers by bankers, self-help groups (SGHs) and other stakeholders.
The programme was attended by General Manager, OIC, RBI, Olden Nongphlu, who suggested the locals be wary of fraudsters while doing online financial transactions.
Songsak Block Development Officer (BDO), on the other hand, highlighted the government schemes and projects available in the block and urged the locals to avail the benefits.
Meghalaya Rural Bank (MRB), Williamnagar, General Manager Evarina Lyngdoh highlighted the services being provided by the MRB and social security schemes. She also stressed the need to link Aadhaar with bank accounts.
RBI Shillong Manager Sharmistha Mazumder, meanwhile, highlighted the importance of having bank accounts and accidental insurance.
Further, she also informed the gathering about the roles and functions of RBI, grievance redressal mechanism in banking, precautionary measures against various types of financial frauds and the way forward on a cashless economy.
