SHILLONG, June 27: In a bid to help distinguish legitimate employees from unregistered workers and illegal immigrants and ensure security, the FKJGP Riwar Mihngi Circle and HITO Pynursla Area Circle have recommended that the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) issue identity cards to all employees involved in the ongoing construction projects around Pynursla area.
In a letter addressed to the NHIDCL Executive Director, FKJGP Riwar Mihngi Circle president E Khonglam and HITO Pynursla Area Circle president Iarboklang Khongtani emphasised that issuing identity cards would help local authorities and NGOs distinguish NHIDCL employees from unregistered workers and illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. This measure, they argue, would enhance security and prevent miscommunication between employees and locals in public spaces and markets.
The two leaders expressed their anticipation of cooperation from NHIDCL to ensure the safety and security of everyone involved in and affected by the construction projects.
