SHILLONG: Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal N A K Browne arrived at Headquarters, Eastern Air Command on Wednesday on a two-day farewell visit. Air Chief Marshal Browne will also attend the Eastern Air Command Commanders’ Conference here.
The Chief of the Air Staff is accompanied by President Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA), Kiran Browne.
Air Chief Marshal Browne was received by Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Headquarters Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal RK Sharma, at the Advance Landing Ground, Shillong.
During his visit, the Chief of Air Staff addressed senior officers, field commanders and personnel of Headquarters, Eastern Air Command. An alumnus of National Defence Academy, Air Chief Marshal Browne was commissioned into the Fighter Stream of the IAF in June, 1972.
In a distinguished career spanning 40 years, the Chief of Air Staff has flown a wide variety of jet aircraft including Hunters, all variants of MiG-21, Jaguar and SU-30K.
He is a Fighter Combat Leader and has served as an instructor at the Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment (TADCE).
He would relinquish his Office on December 31, to be succeeded by Air Marshal Arup Raha.
Meanwhile, during the visit, Kiran Browne interacted with Sanginis of Headquarters, Eastern Air Command at a function organised by AFWWA (R) at Meghalaya Hall on Wednesday. She urged Sanginis to empower themselves and become self sufficient in every walk of life.
