Emphasis on workplace cleanliness at NSSO

SHILLONG, July 1: A series of programmes and activities concluded as part of the ‘Swachhata Pakhwada 2024’ at the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) in Shillong recently with focus on workplace cleanliness.
Swachhata Pakhwada initiative aligns with the Swachh Bharat Mission, a flagship central programme launched to eliminate open defecation and improve solid waste management across India, fulfilling Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and hygienic nation.
Organised by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Swachhata Pakhwada 2024 was celebrated from June 16 to June 30. The campaign focused on undertaking cleanliness activities and ensuring intensive sanitation across various ecosystems.
During this fortnight, the NSSO (FOD) Regional Office in Shillong emphasised workplace cleanliness to enhance the office environment. Activities included a tree plantation and cleaning drive at the Golf Course, donation of wet and dry garbage bins to Rajasthan Vishram Bhawan in Garikhana, and a cleaning drive at Police Bazar and nearby areas in Shillong.
The 14-day campaign saw enthusiastic participation from all officers and staff of the NSSO (FOD) RO Shillong, united by the motto to keep their office surroundings and the city of Shillong clean and free of plastic waste.
