State Cabinet approves public communication policy

SHILLONG, July 10: The State Cabinet approved the Meghalaya Public Communication Policy on Wednesday. Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the policy was pending for a long time rendering the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) unable to perform optimally.
This policy will aim to streamline the strategy in regard with people-administration connect by having different systems, infrastructure and spokesperson in various departments.
It may be noted that the journalist benefit scheme is not a part of this policy. However, it talks about infrastructure and support being provided to journalists in the state.
