Agartala: Hammering both Congress and BJP for their anti-people policies, CPM general secretary Prakash Karat said the party will work to strengthen anti-Congress and anti BJP secular parties ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections.
Karat, who was addressing a rally after three-day CPM Politburo and Central Committee meetings at Vivekananda Stadium here, said the party has reviewed the political scenario threadbare.
“We are of the view that the defeat of Congress is almost final for its anti-people policies. And, the BJP has been trying hard to capture to power at Delhi after land-slide victory of four states. But, we, the Left parties will not let the saffron party to regain the power as it could be dangerous for the country”, he said.
Clearing the party’s stand for the upcoming general elections, Karat said the Left parties would support anti-Congress, anti-BJP security forces in the next general elections. “We have already started working on the strategy to give alternative policies to the people. The people as a whole will suffer if Congress or BJP capture the power”, he said.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, in his speech, also endorsed the Karat’s line- extending support to the non-Congress, non-BJP secular forces. “People are suffering due to wrong policies of the Congress led UPA government which has led the defeat of Congress in four states. The BJP, which has been trying to capture the power, will not be able to address the people’s problems”, he said.
“We, the Left parties will pursue to provide a viable alternative to the people for betterment of the country”, he said.
