NEW DELHI, July 16: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma held a meeting with Union Minister for Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chauhan and apprised him on issues concerning farmers in Meghalaya.
“Our state’s unique community-based and clan-based land ownership systems often lack formal documentation, making it challenging for farmers to access benefits under the PM-KISAN scheme,” Sangma said during the meeting.
He said the state government has submitted suggestions to the ministry, and sought its approval.
“This will enable our farmers to avail of the PM-KISAN benefits, improving their livelihoods and welfare,” he added.
The chief minister also held meetings with the officials of the Ministry of Jal Shakti and discussed the current flood situation in the state.
The officials stressed on the need for effective strategies and measures for quick and efficient relief operations in the flood-affected areas.
