NERPF to meet in Dimapur today

SHILLONG: The first executive meeting of the North East Regional Political Front (NERPF) will be held in Dimapur, Nagaland on Friday to be attended by the Opposition United Democratic party (UDP) and the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP).
It may be recalled that ten regional parties of the North East including UDP, HSPDP, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Naga People’s Front (NPF), Manipur People’s Party (MPP), Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP), Manipur Democratic People’s Front (MDPF), Mizo National Front (MNF), People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) and Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) had formed the NERPF on October 20 last to work together for safeguarding the territorial, cultural, social, political and economic rights of the people of the region and to continuously strive to protect the distinctive identifies of the ethnic tribes and of all the people of the region.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio is the convener of the front while former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kr Mahanta is the chief advisor.
The first executive meeting will be addressed by the NERPF chief advisor while convener of the NERPF will deliver the keynote address.
