New Governor to take oath today

SHILLONG, July 29: Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar will be sworn in as the new Governor of Meghalaya at 4:30 pm on Tuesday. Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, Justice S Vaidyanathan, will administer the oath of office at Raj Bhavan.
On Monday, Raj Bhavan bid farewell to outgoing Governor, Phagu Chauhan.
In his farewell speech, Chauhan thanked the dedicated staff of Raj Bhavan for their steadfast support throughout his tenure. Heads of various departments also shared brief remarks, underscoring their profound appreciation for his leadership and contributions.
A citation commemorating his tenure was presented to the Governor, along with gifts as tokens of gratitude and respect for his dedicated service to the state. The Chief Post Master General, NE Region, Sanjiv Ranjan, called on the Governor and presented him with commemorative postage stamps to mark his tenure. The Governor conveyed his best wishes to the postal department in the state.
Furthermore, the Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya Branch, RO Wallang, along with others presented a citation to the Governor in recognition of his dedicated service as President of the Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya Branch.
