Run for Inclusion held in city

SHILLONG: A charity run, known as the Run for Inclusion, was organised in Shillong on December 21, with the North Eastern city on of 50 across India, Nepal and Sri Lanka to host the run.
The Shillong leg of the race was flagged off by boxer Torak Kharpran at Fire Brigade Ground at 8:00am.
Almost 800 runners participated, according to a press release.
The runners covered a distance of 5km upto Polo Parking Lot via Dhanketi, Barik, IGP, DC’s Office, Governor’s House, Wards Lake and Polo Towers.
The Run was organised by Aide Et Action with the belief that individuals must be treated with equal dignity and fairness.
The press release said, however, that there is a long way to go, globally, for this to happen.
The runners were from different backgrounds and from different strata of society. The participants were largely from schools, colleges, unions, youth bodies, locality wings, athletic organisations, corporations, government departments, NGOs,  and other related bodies.
The Run was sponsored by Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Meghalaya.
The Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Meghalaya and Shillong Press Club supported the event in Publicity and reaching out to the masses; and Bharat Scouts & Guide provided volunteer support.
EMRI assisted in arranging for emergency medical support during the event.
