Itanagar:  Security forces in Arunachal Pradesh arrested five hardcore NSCN (K) militants including its self-styled revenue secretary, and recovered arms and documents from their possession.
A joint team of Lohit and Changlang district police including personnel of the Assam Regiment arrested them during an operation on Friday from Lohit district, official sources said here on Sunday.
Police seized one 9 mm pistol, two magazines, 29 live rounds, pen drives, mobile sets and incriminating documents including 264 extortion notes and seal of the organisation.
The arrested cadres include self-styled revenue secretary of Lohit district Hongloan Lowakhao along with four of his accomplices, Biswanath Pait, Chow Pintina Choupoo, Chow Sultana Munglang and Faki Wangsa.
Alerted by extortion notices served by the outfit, Diyun police laid a trap and arrested Pait, an NSCN (K) linkman, before the Lohit police and Assam Regiment personnel joined to conduct a joint operation in Namsai in Lohit district and Diyun in Changlang district areas which resulted in the arrest and recovery.
Tirap and Changlang districts (including Longding) have been witnessing turf wars by both NSCN (IM) and (K) factions for the last few years for area dominance. (PTI)
