Mixed results on exciting day of Meghalaya Youth League

Shillong, Aug 25: Saturday was a super exciting day in the Meghalaya Youth League 2024 with results that have had a big impact on the points tables.
Zone D saw Pyndengumiong District Sports Association retake the lead in the U-14 category with a 2-0 win against Mawshynrut Sports Association. Nongstoin District Sports Association were held to a 1-1 draw with Eastern Border Sports Association, which meant that Pyndengumiong now have 14 points to Nongstoin’s 13. Mawkyrwat District Sports Association beat Tyrsad Area Sports Association 5-0 to move to third with 11 points.
In the U-16 category, there was a surprise win for Eastern Border, playing at home, who defeated Nongstoin 4-1. This was Nongstoin’s first defeat in this age group but they have already amassed 13 points and are still at the top of the standings. Pyndengumiong won 2-1 against Mawshynrut and Tyrsad pipped Mawkyrwat 1-0. There was just one match in Zone C, in the U-16 category between Riwar Mihngi Football Association and Western Ri-Bhoi Sports Association and this match ended 2-2. Amlarem Block Sports Association were the big winners in Zone B, victorious against Laskein Block Sports Association 6-0 and 3-0 in the U-14 and U-16 categories respectively. Saipung Block Sports Association were 1-0 and 2-1 winners against East Jaintia District Football Association in the U-14 and U-16 age groups.
Zone A saw Tura District Football Association and North Garo Hills District Sports Association win a match each. Tura beat North Garo Hills in the U-14 category 4-0 with a hat-trick by Wanchiang K Marak, while NGH beat Tura 2-0 in the U-16s.
