Shillong, Aug 28: The BSF Inter-Command Women’s Competition 2024, featuring wrestling, boxing, judo, arm wrestling, weightlifting, and powerlifting, concluded on August 28 with a grand and colorful closing ceremony at the BSF Frontier Headquarters in Meghalaya. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 70 women athletes representing the Eastern Command and 50 from the Western Command of the BSF.
During the ceremony, the chief guest Abu Taher Mondal felicitated the winners across various categories, recognizing their extraordinary achievements and hard work. The event also featured a vibrant cultural program performed by students of BSF School.
In his address, Mondal highlighted the importance of sports in fostering a strong and healthy society. He emphasized that such competitions not only showcase physical abilities but also play a crucial role in enhancing the mental and emotional well-being of the participants.
The Chief Guest lauded the dedication and teamwork displayed by the winners and praised the BSF for its role in safeguarding India’s borders and promoting a culture of sports among its personnel.The ceremony concluded with the official declaration of the event’s closure by the Chief Guest, marking the end of a successful and inspiring competition that celebrated the strength, determination, and spirit of BSF’s women athletes.
The ceremony was graced by Abu Taher Mondal, Minister of Power and C&RD Department, Government of Meghalaya, who served as the chief guest. He was accompanied by notable dignitaries including Harbax Singh Dhillon, IG BSF Meghalaya Frontier, Lt Gen. Vikash Lakhera, AVSM, SM, DG Assam Rifles, Maj Gen.
