Army hosts cross-country run to boost community spirit

Shillong, Aug 31: The Territorial Army marked its 75th anniversary with a vibrant “Run For Fun” event, celebrating its Platinum Jubilee with troops and local residents coming together in a display of unity, fitness, and community spirit.
Held on Saturday, 2024, the cross-country run featured a 10 km race for men, a 5 km race for women, and a 1.5 km run for children. The route began at the tranquil grounds of the 119 Territorial Army at Kenches Trace, Shillong, winding through scenic landscapes and drawing participants from all walks of life.
This event highlighted the deep connection between the Territorial Army and the communities it serves, reinforcing the strong bond of trust and cooperation built over the years. Soldiers, their families, and local residents enthusiastically took part, showcasing the Army’s dedication to fostering camaraderie and promoting physical fitness.
Colonel Devashis Naik, speaking at the event, underscored the significance of such initiatives in strengthening ties between the Armed Forces and local communities.
“This run represents our shared commitment to the nation, reflecting our unity and resilience. Celebrating our Platinum Jubilee alongside the people we protect is an honor,” he said.
