269 prize winners feted at RKM event

SHILLONG, Aug 31: A total of 269 prize winners from 55 institutes in Shillong and Sohra were recognised during a prize distribution ceremony of the 50th Annual Cultural Competition here on Saturday.
According to a statement here, the programme, which was held at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Shillong, was attended by Governor CH Vijayashankar as the chief guest.
In his address, the Governor expressed his privilege to speak from the same dais once sanctified by Swami Vivekananda.
He also emphasised the importance of concentration of mind, as advocated by Swami Vivekananda, stating that it can lead to remarkable achievements.
Swami Achyuteshanandaji Maharaj, a member of the governing body of Ramakrishna Mission Belur Math, highlighted the Mission’s efforts in bridging communities, particularly in Meghalaya.
He also praised the local hospitality and ambience as a model for the nation.
Meanwhile, Swami Vedeshananda Maharaj noted that the year 2024 is particularly significant, marking both the golden jubilee of the cultural competitions and the 100th anniversary of Ramakrishna Mission’s service in Meghalaya.
Earlier, Swami Hitakamanandaji Maharaj said these competitions aim to nurture young minds and build their self-confidence.
