Shillong, Sep 5: In a significant step towards advancing football in Meghalaya, Rangdajied United FC (RUFC) has formed a partnership with Indian Super League (ISL) club Bengaluru FC to focus on the development of youth players and coaches.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed today at the Rangdajied Performance Centre in Pynthorbah, Shillong.
The agreement was formalized between RUFC President Eugeneson Lyngdoh and Bengaluru FC’s Director of Football, Darren Caldeira.
This partnership marks a homecoming of sorts for Lyngdoh, who played for Bengaluru FC for four seasons during his football career.
His leadership at Rangdajied has already seen the establishment and growth of RUFC Football Schools, which started two years ago with 60 children and has since expanded to hundreds of students across five centres in Meghalaya.
The collaboration between the two clubs goes beyond just nurturing young talent. While Rangdajied’s Football Schools are aimed at children who aspire to follow in Lyngdoh’s footsteps and represent India, the partnership with Bengaluru FC adds another crucial layer—coach development. Recognizing the need for more qualified coaches in Meghalaya, this MoU will help bridge the gap by offering advanced training opportunities for local coaches.
Lyngdoh expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, noting Bengaluru FC’s proven track record in developing young players and their vision for the future of Indian football.
